Mono Lake., California
2016-17 was rain redemption for California – finally, after years of drought, California got rain, and tons of it. That was good for the lakes in the Sierra Nevada, especially Mono Lake, the large shallow, saline/soda lake which was getting closer and closer to becoming extinct.
This is a sunset image of Mono Lake from the South Tufa Tower area. The foreground plants are rabbitbrush which proliferates in the Sierra Nevada. The mountain ranges that surround Mono Lake are the Sierra Nevada to the east and the White Mountains to the west.
